1st Pine Siskin of the season

Apparently, from reports from farther north, it is going to be a good bumper crop year for Pine Siskins. Below is one of many to come. Only 1 so far...

Under feeders in backyard.

Update: as of Saturday, the 25th of Oct., 11 Pine Siskins are the high. Interesting to keep track of them by checking Ethan Kistler's map of Pine Siskin movement in Ohio.

Do pine siskins loose their yellow in winter. I have several, of what I think are pine siskins with my gold finches but don't see any yellow?

  2. Just checked out the suet cakes I get from Walmart and the ones I buy are from another company in Iowa, and are stated to be safe due to recent and ongoing testing.
The company on my suet cakes is C-S Co. They appear to have no connection to Scotts Company.
